During this year’s Travenalia, participants will embark on a journey across almost every continent. The programme will feature stories about remote corners of the world, extraordinary cultures, great journeys and extreme expeditions.
The travellers will take the audience on a journey to, amongst other places, the Wadi Rum desert in Jordan, China, Algeria, Libya, Afghanistan, Iraq, the Philippines, Papua New Guinea and Bangladesh. They will also talk about a cycling trip from Lisbon to Santiago de Compostela and a journey through the Caucasus – a land of extraordinary natural beauty, beliefs and legends.
There’ll be plenty of reports on a winter expedition to Finnmarksvidda, a motorhome journey from Poland to Japan, and stories about a year-long trip round the world. The programme will also feature Yellowstone and the north-western United States, New Zealand, Ladakh and Kashmir, the ancient Silk Road, Corsica, Sardinia, Polynesia and Livonia – a territory of the former First Polish Republic.
The meetings will provide an opportunity to learn about the history of people and places off the beaten track, as well as to hear stories about mountaineering and sailing challenges, and about health and safety whilst travelling.
