Opera Rara

Festiwal Opera Rara Kraków prezentuje kompozycje z całej, liczącej ponad 400 lat historii gatunku i sięga daleko poza operowy kanon, konwencję i schemat. Organizowane przez Capellę Cracoviensis wydarzenie od 2017 roku odbywa się w formule festiwalowej, choć rozłożonej na kilka odsłon w ciągu roku. Jego najważniejszy akcent czeka nas jak zwykle w okresie karnawału, na który w czasach Vivaldiego czy Handla przypadało apogeum operowych nowości i premier.

Rozmaitość opery to także jej klasyczna odsłona, jak Mozartowski Idomeneo – to rzadko wykonywane w Polsce dzieło przygotowuje Capella Cracoviensis pod batutą Alessandra Moccii, a wśród śpiewaków usłyszymy takie gwiazdy jak Anna Prohaska czy Ian Bostridge. Organizatorzy nawiązują w ten sposób do czasów, gdy Opera Rara była jeszcze cyklem pojedynczych koncertowych prezentacji oper XVII- i XVIII-wiecznych, a zarazem wskazują, że to wciąż ważny element tego, co dzieje się w muzycznym świecie.

The Opera Rara Kraków Festival organised by Capella Cracoviensis presents compositions from the genre’s entire history spanning over 400 years. It reaches far beyond the conventional canon and conventions of the opera. The event has been organised since 2017 as a festival broken into a number of instalments held throughout the year. As usually, its absolute highlight comes during the carnival: the time that in the days of Vivaldi and Handel marked the height of operatic novelties and premieres.

The variety of the opera includes its classical form, e.g. Mozart’s Idomeneo. Rarely performed in Poland, the piece is being prepared by Capella Cracoviensis to be performed under the baton of Alessandro Mocci and featuring renowned singers such as Anna Prohaska and Ian Bostridge. The performance of Idomeneo looks back to the time when Opera Rara was still a series of individual concert presentations of 17th- and 18th-century operas, and emphasises that it is still a vital element of developments in the musical realm.
