„Ogrodnik” – spektakl Teatru IMKA

Trójka fantastycznych aktorów i historycznych bohaterów: Jerzy Schejbal jako Georges Clemenseau, jeden z najbardziej wpływowych polityków europejskich i dwukrotny premier Francji, Daniel Olbrychski – Claude Monet, guru impresjonistów, autor słynnych „Nenufarów” i Marta Chodorowska – Blanche Monet, malarka, pasierbica i synowa Moneta – pozwala wierzyć, że przyjaciel, jeśli go mamy, wart jest naszej czułości, a świat wokół jest wart naszego zachwytu, uwagi i skupienia.

W spektaklu „Ogrodnik” spędzają ze sobą kilka intensywnych dni w pracowni Moneta w Giverny. Kłócą się, obrażają, przekonują do własnych kompletnie różnych ocen rzeczywistości, która nie jest przyjazna żadnemu z nich. Clemenseau właśnie cudem przeżył zamach na niego, Monet zaś ma kryzys twórczy i nie maluje – uprawia ogród, pielęgnuje rośliny. Trwoni talent? Może. Zażarte dyskusje przyjaciół mogą jednak spowodować zmianę spojrzenia na rzeczywistość. Skuteczną zmianę. Monet wraca do malowania. Spod jego pędzla pojawiają się bajecznie piękne nenufary we wszystkich barwach. To, co intryguje w tej sztuce to jej aktualność i uświadomienie sobie, że sztuka i przyjaźń i wtedy i dzisiaj w świecie społecznego bałaganu, wojny w pobliżu, działań motłochu przeciwko demokracji i rozsądnemu porządkowi świata, może mieć istotny wpływ na nasze życie, bycie, istnienie. Na naszą hierarchię wartości.

A trio of fantastic actors and historical characters – Jerzy Schejbal as Georges Clemenceau, one of Europe's most influential politicians and twice Prime Minister of France, Daniel Olbrychski as Claude Monet, Impressionist guru and author of the famous "Water Lilies", and Marta Chodorowska as Blanche Monet, painter, Monet's stepdaughter and daughter-in-law – allows us to believe that a friend, if we have one, is worth our affection, and that the world around us is worth our admiration, attention and focus.

In "Ogrodnik", these characters spend several intense days together in Monet's studio in Giverny. They argue, insult each other, convince each other of their own completely different assessments of a reality that is not friendly to either of them. Clemenceau has just miraculously survived an assassination attempt on his life, while Monet is having a creative crisis and is not painting – he is gardening, tending plants. Is he squandering his talent? Maybe. Fierce discussions among friends, however, can result in a change of perspective on reality. Effective change. Monet returns to painting. From under his brush appear fabulously beautiful water lilies in all colours. What is intriguing about this play is its timeliness and the realisation that art and friendship both then and today, in a world of social disorder, impending war, and mob action against democracy and a reasonable world order, can have a significant impact on our lives, our being, out existence. On our hierarchy of values.
