Barwy Mistyki/ The Colors of Mysticism

Wystawa powstała z inspiracji tematem konferencji naukowej organizowanej przez Zakon Zmartwychwstańców oraz Instytut Historii Sztuki i Kultury Uniwersytetu Papieskiego Jana Pawła II w Krakowie Obrazy mistyki – mistyka w obrazach. Koncepcja wystawy opiera się na analizie zagadnienia mało zbadanego w kulturze europejskiej, a znanego na Dalekim Wschodzie – wyrażania zagadnień głęboko duchowych i mistycznych przy pomocy barw przez osoby, którym bliski jest świat mistycznych doświadczeń. Ponadto, poprzez zgromadzone dzieła, proponujemy przyjrzeć się ilustrowaniu barwami narracji ukazujących życie mistyków; wówczas barwa rozpatrywana jest raczej nie w kontekście nadania formy doświadczeniom, ale w kontekście ogólnym, historycznym lub religijno-kulturowym.

The exhibition was inspired by the theme of the academic conference organized by the Congregation of the Resurrection (Resurrectionists) and the Institute of Art History and Culture of the Pontifical University of John Paul II in Kraków, titled Images of Mysticism – Mysticism in Images.

The concept of the exhibition is based on the analysis of a subject that has been relatively little explored in European culture, yet is well known in the Far East: the expression of deeply spiritual and mystical themes through color by those who are intimately connected with the world of mystical experience.

Furthermore, through the collected works, we invite viewers to reflect on the use of color in illustrating narratives depicting the lives of mystics. In this context, color is considered not so much as a means of giving form to personal spiritual experience, but rather within a broader historical or religious-cultural framework.
