XIII Międzynarodowy Festiwal Teatru Ukraińskiego Wschód-Zachód/ 13th International Festival of Ukrainian Theatre East-West

Unikatowy na skalę europejską festiwal organizowany jest rokrocznie w Krakowie.

Zawsze występują w nim teatry z Ukrainy, ale też z innych państw – w tym roku z Polski, Niemiec i Węgier. W programie znajdują się spektakle dla dorosłych i dzieci, teatrów amatorskich i zawodowych. „W ten sposób niezmiennie prezentujemy całe spektrum współczesnej ukraińskiej sztuki teatralnej” – mówią organizatorzy z Fundacji Widowisk Masowych. Z tegorocznej oferty festiwalowej szczególnie rekomendujemy cztery pozycje: „Na wylot” Chmielnickiego Teatru im. M. Staryckiego to spektakl łącząc elementy tragedii, komedii i teatru absurdu. Występują w nim weterani wojenni i czynni żołnierze. Sztuka traktuje o wojnie, ludzkiej duszy i drodze do jej uleczenia z traumy. Również do wojennych przeżyć nawiązuje performatywny spektakl „Eros i Psi” Teatru Publicyst (Charków/Katowice). „Śmiech langusty” Teatru Mikołajowskiego przedstawia ostatni rok życia Sary Bernhardt a „Półsmak prawdziwej miłości” kijowskiego teatru „Dzerkało” historię miłości Tarasa Szewczenki i Lykeri Polusmak. Hasło tej edycji wzięte jest ze Stanisława Wyspiańskiego i brzmi: „Kto się sam wyzwoli – ten naprawdę będzie wolny”. Każda sztuka będzie grana z polskimi lub angielskimi napisami.

The festival, unique in Europe, is held annually in Krakow.

It always features theatres from Ukraine, but also from other countries – this year from Poland, Germany and Hungary. The programme includes performances for adults and children, amateur and professional theatres. "In this way, we invariably present the entire spectrum of contemporary Ukrainian theatre art," say the organisers from the Mass Spectacle Foundation. Of this year's festival offerings, they particularly recommend four items: 'On the Run' by M. Starycki  Khmelnytskyi Theatre is a performance combining elements of tragedy, comedy, and theatre of the absurd. It features war veterans and active soldiers. The play deals with war, the human soul, and the way to heal it from trauma. Also alluding to wartime experiences is the performative play 'Eros and Psi' by Publicist Theatre (Kharkiv/Katowice). 'The Crawfish Laugh' by Nikolayev Theatre depicts the last year of Sarah Bernhardt's life and 'Half a Taste of True Love' by Kyiv's Dzerkalo Theatre tells the love story of Taras Shevchenko and Lykeri Polusmak. The slogan for this edition is taken from Stanisław Wyspiański and reads: "He who liberates himself will truly be free".

All plays will be performed with English or Polish subtitles.
