Teatr im. Juliusza Słowackiego zaprasza na nową teatralną interpretację epopei Adama Mickiewicza.

Epopeję Adama Mickiewicza zna w Polsce każdy – jeśli nie ze scen teatrów, to na pewno dzięki jej filmowej adaptacji w reżyserii Andrzeja Wajdy. Interpretatorzy podchodzili do niej z reguły z nabożnym szacunkiem należnym arcydziełu wpisanemu do narodowego kanonu. Reżyser premierowego widowiska w Teatrze im. J. Słowackiego Wojtek Klemm przyjął inny punkt wyjścia: tekst poematu oraz jego powszechne postrzeganie poddaje rewizji. Wczytując się z dystansem w wersy Pana Tadeusza, z krytycznym zdziwieniem przyjmuje każde zdanie i słowo. Kim jest tytułowy „pan”, który żeni się z czternastoletnią dziewczynką? – pyta. Nie dziwi nikogo, że w narodowej epopei nieobecni są chłopi? Dlaczego zachwycają nas szlacheckie awantury i bójki? O miłości jest Pan Tadeusz, czy może o nienawiści?

J. Słowacki Theatre invites you to a new theatrical interpretation of the classic Polish literary epic. Everyone in Poland knows Adam Mickiewicz's epic poem – if not from theatre stages, then certainly thanks to its film adaptation directed by Andrzej Wajda. Interpreters have generally approached it with the pious respect due to a masterpiece inscribed in the national canon. The director of the premiere show at J. Słowacki Theatre, Wojtek Klemm, has taken a different starting point; he revises the text of the poem and its common perception. Reading the verses of Pan Tadeusz (Sir Thaddeus) with detachment, he takes in every sentence and word with critical wonder. Who is the titular 'sir' who marries a 14-year-old girl? he asks. Is it no surprise to anyone that peasants are absent from the national epic? Why do we admire noble brawls and fights? Is Pan Tadeusz about love, or is it about hate?
