Święty Jerzy jest patronem harcerzy i skautów na całym świecie. Jego symboliczny pojedynek ze smokiem jest odczytywany jako zmagania ze złem i własnymi słabościami, obrona słabszych, oraz walka o tak lepsze jutro, czyli podstawy, na których opiera się ruch skautowy. Ale nie tylko. Odwaga, odpowiedzialne podejmowanie wyzwań i chęć pomocy innym to wartości uniwersalne, które chcielibyśmy promować nie tylko wśród harcerzy.

Święto oddziału połączone z obchodami Dnia Świętego Jerzego stanowi więc okazję zarówno do zabawy, która jest nieodłączną częścią skautingu, jak i pokazania wielu ciekawych i rozwojowych aktywności, które można podjąć w ramach harcerstwa i poza nim. Pozostając w tematyce skautingu i świętego Jerzego, ale też fortu, będącego ważnym tłem tego wydarzenia, pokażemy, że ciekawy świat otacza nas z każdej strony, odwaga ma wiele twarzy, a niektóre motywy są uniwersalne.

St. George is the patron saint of scouts worldwide. His symbolic duel with the dragon is interpreted as a struggle against evil and one’s own weaknesses, the defense of the vulnerable, and the fight for a better future—all of which form the foundation of the scouting movement. But it’s more than that. Courage, taking on challenges responsibly, and a willingness to help others are universal values that we aim to promote not only among scouts.

The unit’s celebration, combined with St. George’s Day festivities, is therefore an opportunity both for fun—which is an integral part of scouting—and for showcasing many engaging and developmental activities that can be pursued within scouting and beyond. Staying within the themes of scouting, St. George, and the fort as an important backdrop for the event, we will show that an interesting world surrounds us on all sides, that courage has many faces, and that some ideas are truly universal.
