Wiedeńska krew/ Wiener Blut

Istnieją tysiące powodów, dla których operetka jest tak wspaniała. Zapach krajobrazu, klimat epoki, akcenty języka, smak wyjątkowego stylu życia i niezmierzona siła melodii. Te elementy są wyrazem ludzkiego pragnienia radosnego istnienia, zarówno wtedy, jak i teraz. Ponadczasowy i uniwersalny, „Wiener Blut”, oparty na muzyce Johanna Straussa II i odrestaurowany wkrótce po jego śmierci, jest dowcipny, lekki i sentymentalny, wchodzi w krew i domaga się, by słuchać go sercem.

The smell of the landscape, the atmosphere of the era, the accents of the language, the taste of a unique lifestyle and the immeasurable power of melody. These elements are an expression of the human desire for a joyful existence, both then and now. Timeless and universal, ‘Wiener Blut’ (Viennese Blood), based on the music of Johann Strauss II and restored shortly after his death, is witty, light and sentimental, gets into your blood and demands to be listened to with your heart.

The operetta is set against the backdrop of the Congress of Vienna of 1815, where European monarchs convened to restore their former rule in order to balance each other's influence and preserve peace. The staging reveals the smell of the times and the historical fact that the many social occasions accompanying a major political event were conquered by a new dance – the Viennese waltz. This revolutionary ballroom dance is the hidden star of Viennese operetta; ignoring old moral conventions, it brings men and women together as had been previously allowed. In ‘Wiener Blut’, the waltz infuses all the characters with sensuality; formal principles are perversely transformed into the fullness of desire and lust, leading to joyful madness.
