Marzena Kolarz „Ręce, głowa, serce” - wystawa fotografii/

„Tytuł wystawy Ręce, głowa, serce odnosi się do mojego sposobu myślenia o fotografii. Traktuję ją nie tylko jako medium, technikę czy czynność, ale jako równorzędną partnerkę procesu twórczego. Fotografia to dla mnie język, pamięć zewnętrzna, narzędzie poznania, forma wypowiedzi bez słów i sposób przepracowywania trudnych doświadczeń.

W pracy doktorskiej porównałam Fotografię do ludzkiego ciała, a dokładniej do trzech jego części: głowy, serca i ręki. Głowa oznacza dla mnie myśl, ideę, koncept i proces wyobrażania. Serce wiąże się z emocjami, wrażliwością, intuicją, relacją z widzem, ale także z zagłębianiem się w siebie i odkrywaniem ukrytych przeżyć. Ręce oznaczają technikę, wiedzę, sprawczość, fizyczność procesu, dotyk, gest, chemię, odbitkę, powierzchnię i materialne istnienie obrazu. Wierzę, że dopiero balans między tymi trzema obszarami sprawia, że organizm fotografii dobrze funkcjonuje. Tego balansu szukam również we własnej praktyce – między ideą a materią, między konstrukcją obrazu a przypadkiem, między kreacją a pamięcią, między widzeniem a emocją.” - autorka prac Marzena Kolarz

“The title of the exhibition, "Hands, Head, Heart", refers to my way of thinking about photography. I regard it not merely as a medium, a technique or an activity, but as an equal partner in the creative process. For me, photography is a language, an external memory, a tool for understanding, a form of expression without words, and a way of coming to terms with difficult experiences.

In my doctoral thesis, I compared photography to the human body, and more specifically to three of its parts: the head, the heart and the hand. To me, the head represents a thought, an idea, a concept and the process of imagination. The heart is associated with emotions, sensitivity, intuition and the connection with the audience, but also with delving into one’s inner self and discovering hidden experiences. Hands represent technique, knowledge, agency, the physicality of the process, touch, gesture, chemistry, the imprint, the surface and the material existence of the painting. I believe that it is only a balance between these three areas that enables the world of photography to function effectively. I also seek this balance in my own practice – between idea and matter, between the composition of the image and chance, between creation and memory, between vision and emotion,” says Marzena Kolarz, the artist.
