27. Festiwal Filmu Niemego / 27th Silent Film Festival
-
Data:
12-15 listopada 2026 ( 2026-11-12 - 2026-11-15 )
This year’s edition of Poland’s oldest event of its kind will celebrate the great achievements of the silent film era, which continue to inspire audiences and contemporary filmmakers to this day. Live music for the films will be performed by artists from Poland and abroad, including hoshii, Zima Stulecia, Hańba!, La Giang, Jagodna, Lullahush (IE) and Magda Drozd (UK/CH).
This year’s Festival programme features films that have left an indelible mark on the history of cinema – from the pioneering manifestos of the French avant-garde (‘A propos de Nice’, ‘Madame Beudet Smiling’, 'The Mechanical Ballet'), through the forerunners of modern horror cinema ('The Student of Prague', 'The Fall of the House of Usher'), right up to the first feature-length animated film, which this year celebrates the centenary of its premiere ('The Adventures of Prince Achmed'). Visitors will also be able to see Buster Keaton’s timeless comedies ('The General', 'The Camera Man'), a restored gem of Polish interwar cinema ('People Without a Tomorrow'), and an avant-garde documentary about life in the German capital ('Berlin. Symphony of a Great City') and films by the pioneers of cinematic narrative – Fritz Lang’s ‘Destiny (Der müde Tod)’ and D. W. Griffith’s monumental 'Intolerance'.
During the Silent Film Festival, all screenings are accompanied by live music. The performing artists represent a variety of musical worlds: from jazz improvisations, through classical music and traditional piano, to innovative electronic music.
